Mr. Boyd has practiced family law exclusively since being called to the bar, and is both a litigator and a family law mediator. He works as an associate with the Vancouver family law firm Aaron Gordon & Daykin, and is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
Mr. Boyd volunteers his time with Pro Bono Law of British Columbia, the Salvation Army's pro bono program and other organizations. He presently serves on the editorial board of the Continuing Legal Education Society's British Columbia Family Practice Manual and is a member of the Attorney General's Family Relations Act Review Advisory Committee.
The author is, in varying capacities, a lecturer, speaker, writer and editor on family law topics for a number of different organizations and publications, including the Continuing Legal Education Society, the Legal Services Society and the Law Society of British Columbia. His more scholarly work has been published in The Advocate and the UBC Law Review.
