JP went to law school at the University of British Columbia and is a lawyer in private practice in Vancouver. He has practiced family law exclusively since being called to the bar and works as a litigator, arbitrator, mediator and parenting coordinator. He is occasionally retained to prepare views of the child reports, which he greatly enjoys. John-Paul is a fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association, the British Columbia Parenting Coordinators Roster Society and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. He presently serves on the editorial board of the BC Continuing Legal Education Society's British Columbia Family Practice Manual, and on the boards of directors of the BC Parenting Coordinators Roster Society and the BC Hear the Child Society. John-Paul is a speaker, writer, editor and consultant on family law topics for a number of different organizations and publications including the Continuing Legal Education Society, BarTalk, the Legal Services Society, the Pacific Business & Law Institute, the Lawyers' Weekly, the Trial Lawyers' Association, the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of British Columbia's bar admission course and the National Judicial Institute. His more scholarly work, which will be generally of no interest to anyone, has been published in The Advocate, the UBC Law Review and elsewhere.
